How to Use Border Maker Borders in Your Scrap Journal | Sketch #3
Have you ever created a beautiful border with your Creative Memories Border Maker System and then wondered how to incorporate it into your Scrap Journal?
That question actually came from one of my viewers, and I thought it would be the perfect inspiration for Scrap Journal Saturday Sketch #3!
For this layout, I took a decorative border and turned it vertically along the side of the page. It becomes part of the overall design rather than simply an embellishment added at the end.
Start With the Sketch
Here is Scrap Journal Saturday Sketch #3. As always, I designed the sketch to be a starting point, not a set of rules.
The sketch includes four primary design areas, plus space for a title and journaling. You can change the photo sizes, move elements around, substitute embellishments, or simply use one part of the sketch as inspiration.

Using a Border in a Different Way
One of my favorite things about this layout is using the Border Maker border vertically instead of horizontally.
Borders don't always have to run across the top or bottom of a page. Turning one on its side can create a strong design element while still leaving plenty of room for photos, journaling and embellishments.
And you certainly don't need to use the same Border Maker Cartridge that I used. Take a look at the cartridges you already own and see what might work with your photos and papers.

And remember: the sketch doesn't have to be followed exactly. Make it work for your photos, your supplies and yourstory.
