Cascading Squares: A Fall Scrap Journal Layout with Autumn Abundance

Sometimes a simple shape is all you need to get a layout started! For this week’s Scrap Journal process video, I used 2" x 2" squares to create a cascading design with the Autumn Abundance paper collection from Creative Memories.

I titled the layout “Fall With You,” and I love how the squares appear to tumble down the page. The combination of plum, warm autumn colors, and patterned papers makes this a fun way to celebrate the season.

The squares alternate between patterned paper, embellishments, and spaces for three 2" x 2" photos. A tall title section anchors the design alongside them, giving the page a clear focal point while letting the different papers shine.

One of my favorite things about this idea is how easily you can adapt it. Try it with another paper collection, choose your favorite patterns, and add photos of the little moments you want to remember.
