12x12 Kit to Scrap Journal: A Halloween Layout

A smaller page doesn’t have to mean fewer photos! For this month’s 12x12 Kit to Scrap Journal project, I adapted a two-page kit design to fit my journal—and found room for one more photo along the way.

I used Creative Memories Noteworthy Simple Page Kit #10, taking its original two-page 12x12 design and turning it into a two-page spread on my 6.75" x 10" Scrap Journal pages. The original layout included space for seven photos. My finished version holds eight!

Making the Kit Work for My Journal

One of my favorite things about using page kits is having a starting point. The papers and design give me inspiration, and I can adjust the arrangement to suit my page size and the memories I want to include.

For this Halloween spread, purple photo mats, light blue backgrounds, and seasonal embellishments bring the pages together. The “BOO!” title, ghost, and pumpkins add plenty of Halloween personality.

I’ve left the photo spaces labeled so you can see how different photo sizes fit into the finished design.

In the video below, I walk through adapting the kit’s design for my Scrap Journal. If you have 12x12 kits waiting in your craft room, I hope this gives you inspiration to try them in a different format!
