Hello Everyone!
Today's post will be pretty short as I had a crazy weekend and not much crafting was done...sometimes that's the way it goes. I promise to post more projects starting tomorrow!
I did want to announce the giveaway of another free stamp set...Father Quotes. This set features 7 of my favorite quotes about being a father. With Father's Day quickly approaching it would come in very handy. To get a chance to win, please follow my blog (if you have not already become a follower) and leave a comment with either your favorite quote about your father or something funny your father (father-figure) always said. To qualify, the entry needs to be made by Friday at midnight. Good luck!
To see more fun stamp sets for the men in your life visit TradeFish Designs and to see project using the Father Quotes stamp set check out the new Gallery!

Hellooooooooooooooo!
Welcome to Friday at TradeFish Designs...TGIF! This is not only a Friday, which is fantastic, but it is also the start of a 3-day weekend for many of you...WOOHOO! This is a big weekend in my house as it is my husband's birthday. I try to always create something special for him and this year is no exception. I found a discounted canvas at Archivers and decided to jazz it up with a cute picture of my husband and my step-son from about 10 years back.
I am finding that I can scrapbook just about anywhere I want - including a canvas! This project is all about distressing, layering and texture paper. First I used some Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink and distressed the edges of everything -including the canvas! Then I started to layer.
You should notice that I mix some wonderful paper from The Guy Stack (DCWV) with some kraft paper and some corrogated cardboard. The cardboard and the canvas texture are just so good together dontcha think? I love it. Next, I added a quote from my new release, Father Quotes, again distressing and layering. Finally, I wanted to add a little something special so I used my awesome i-Top tool (Imaginesce) and created a coordinating brad to "attach" the sentiment to the canvas.
This close up really shows off some of the layers. I even used textured cardstock to stamp on so when I distressed the edges it just really pops. I hope you all enjoyed this project and you have to promise not to tell my husband...pinky swear???
Now, today is the last day to enter the contest to win the TV Time stamp set on sale at TradeFish Designs. Here are the details:
1. Follow the blog
2. Comment on the blog: please tell me your favorite tv show.
3. Follow me on Facebook.

Finally, if you made it this far in the blog you are going to get a treat...a Memorial Day Sale at TradeFish Designs is on....(as well as a birthday celebration for my husband)...

TradeFish Designs & TV Time Contest Information
Thursday, May 26, 2011
Hello Everyone!
Today's card features the TV Time Stamp Set available at TradeFish Designs. This is a sentiment that anyone who has a tv remote and lives with another person has heard a zillion times. You may not hear the "honey" part but I guarantee you have dealt with missing remote controls at some point.
The card itself is monochromatic using gray shades from my Dots & Stripes paper set from Echo Park (Metropolitan). I also had fun by creating a cool tv screen by using Glossy Accents. From there I added layer after layer to the card for some more dimension. I hope you enjoyed this project!
Next comes the weekly contest for a TV Time stamp set. This week I am asking you to do a couple of things to earn entry into the contest. For each of the following you do you will get one entry:
1. Follow the blog
2. Comment on the blog: please tell me your favorite tv show.
3. Follow me on Facebook.
4. Follow me on Twitter.
You have until Friday at midnight to enter. The contest winner will be announced over the weekend!

Papercraft Star Challenge 47! (Final One...sniff)
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
Hello Everyone!
Today is my final post as a member of the Design Team for Papercraft Star. It has been a wonderful experience and I have had a tremendous opportunity to meet and work with some amazingly talented women. I hope I will not disappear althougher from the PCS world...I will try to make periodic visits when I can....hint, hint...
Now, on to the challenge...
Begins May 25, 2011
Use this sketch as inspiration to create your project for this challenge and use the following recipe:
1 color cardstock
2 colors patterned paper
3 pieces of bling
And here is what I created with the challenge...
I made a fun World's Greatest Grandfather card. The beauty of this card is that you can use on Father's Day or any day of the year! The #1 is my cardstock used for the ribbon and the circle matting. The #2 is the fun polka dotted and plaid pattern paper from The Celebrations Stack from Die Cuts with a View. And finally, the #3 is the bling which I slipped into the award with some blue rhinestones and my Imaginesce i-Rock tool (LOVE). I distressed all the edges with varius cat's eye chalk inks for fun and voila! This card is a super simple take on the sketch but I think any grandfather would be happy to receive this card...
...did I forget to mention that I used the sentiments from my Happy Father's Day stamp set?! That set is fantastic for putting together sentiments for the men in your life.
I enjoyed making this layout and I hope it has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the guidelines above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, May 18th, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!

This card uses the coffee mug stamp, the "#1" and "Dad" stamps from my Happy Father's Day set with an assortment of Ranger Distress inks. I took the mug and, using differetn ink colors, stamped across a white card base. I then used my black ink and selected one of the mugs for the special stamping. How many of you gave a very similar mug to your dad for Father's Day growing up...I know I did! This card sure takes me back...and this is one easy-peasy card.

Trade Fish Designs Contest Winner
Sunday, May 22, 2011
Hello Everyone!
According to http://www.random.org/, the winner of the Happy Father's Day stamp set is Angi!
Your special package will be winging its way to you Angi...congrats girlie!
Today's project features the new stamp set TV Time. As I mentioned at the release, this stamp set was inspired my own by father. He had a special love/hate relationship with his tv and remote control. This set and the added sentiments say it all. This card focuses on a silly sentiment from the stamp set..."Remote down, remote down....need more batteries." Anyone who has experienced a battery loss can relate to this one.
I added a side angle shot to show you that the batteries and the patterened paper are popped up for added dimension. I hope you enjoy this card. Come back tomorrow for another fun project. And if you are interested in looking at the complete stamp line check it out at TradeFish Designs.

TradeFish Designs & Happy Father's Day & TV Time (Contest Reminder too!)
Thursday, May 19, 2011
Hello Everyone!
This is just a bit of a silly card. The TV Time set is a personal favorite for me as it was inspired by my own father. I have many memories of my dad trying to avoid yard work and be able to watch the current sporting event he was watching...it was kinda funny.
It is hard to tell by this photo but I used glossy accents for the tv screen section of the tv and colored the tv frame with my copics. I also added some bling that I colored with my black copic as I couldn't leave some crystal rhinestones hanging out there in a guy card!
The inside of the card was just a fun twist on the front. I used the remote from TV Time and one of the sentiments from Happy Father's Day. This card just makes me smile... It you would like to see more stamps from this release or take a peek at the Gallery check out TradeFish Designs! I would love to know what you think about the current release...

Papercraft Star Challenge 46!
Wednesday, May 18, 2011
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to our 45th Challenge with Papercraft Star. We are so happy to have you join us this week !!Supplies
Challenge 46 - Liz Chidester Sketch
Begins May 18, 2011
Create any project you wish using this sketch as your inspiration.
Here's my scrapbook layout created based upon the sketch above...
This layout came together so quickly. I am embarassed to say that I threw it together in about 30 minutes. That's a quick layout for me! I have to say, the sketch and a new paper pack from Echo Park and I was done!
I used a journaling box and alphabet stickers that were included in the kit - Little Boy (Echo Park) - if anyone is interested. This kit is fantastic!
The kit comes with letters in large sizes and some smaller ones. I added some kraft and miscellaneous red cardstock, layered with a fun polka dot paper and I was done with the layout foundation.
One of the best part of this kit was the awesome page of accent stickers. Since my layout was about a train ride my family took it was a no brainer to use the train set.

I have another fun project to share today highlighting the stamp set called Father Quotes from the May release for TradeFish Designs.
This is an 8.5" x 11" layout of my husband and his father (I have been doing more layouts in this size - somehow it feels good to do a smaller size and focus on fewer pictures). I thought it would be a great opportunity to use a quote about the gift of a father. These quotes are great for cards but they are also wonderful sentiments to add as journaling for scrapbook layouts too.
Here's a closer look at the quote. I hope you enjoyed this layout! Don't forget to check out this stamp set and others available at my new website TradeFishDesigns.com.

Day 1 of TradeFish Designs and another project...
Monday, May 16, 2011
Hello Everyone!
I am so relieved that the launch has begun. I have been bottling up the excitement for about a month and I was ready to burst. Now that the stamps are revealed we can continue the fun with me sharing a silly card I made for Father's Day using the Happy Father's Day set. Read below for some more exciting news...
I used much of the set on this one. I had fun taking the plain images that come with this set and coloring them. I kept the red theme going and added heart stamps; colored the sox red; added the polka dot stamps to the tie and added the "I {heart} U Dad" stamp ( a favorite).
The inside of the card allowed me to play with all the names of the images from the front of the card. Each image included has the corresponding name as a stamp. By stringing them all together and then staggering them I made a fun stamped pattern on an already patterned paper. I topped it off with the simple "Happy Father's Day" from the set. I hope this card inspires you to make a fun card for your dad (or other father figure). Have a wonderful day!
The exciting news....I will be giving away a brand new stamp set this Friday. To have a chance to win you need to do the following:
1. Become a follower of this blog (if you are already a follower let me know in the blog post - see #2 below)

TradeFish Designs New Location Coming VERY Soon
Friday, May 13, 2011
Hello Everyone!
Starting this weekend TradeFish Designs will no longer be found through Blogger but through my brand new full service website. There will be a fully functioning store to purchase my new stamp designs as well as a blog. I am working through the kinks of the new blog as it is a bit different than Blogger. I appreciate your patience as TFD makes the transition. I know there will be kinks but if you bear with me I know we can work through them together.
I am both nervous and excited about this new adventure and hope that you will join me for this crazy journey. I am learning so much each day about this new business and know that I will grow both as a designer and business woman. I have so many ideas I might bust!
As a special treat, starting this weekend you can see the site with all the new stamp sets and photos of projects in my gallery...no waiting for a special reveal on Monday! The next release will be more structured, as we will be in full swing then, but for now I am improvising and rolling with the new challenges. But to keep things fun and exciting I will be posting ways to win new stamps so come back often and see how you can win!
Please help free to spread the word about TradeFish Designs as I know I can use all the help I can get!

Papercraft Star Challenge 45!
Wednesday, May 11, 2011
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to our 45th Challenge with Papercraft Star. We are so happy to have you join us this week !!
Challenge 45 - Photo Inspiration and Recipe
Begins May 11, 2011
With this photograph as your inspiration create a project that includes: (1) at least one die cut or stamped image, (2) a metal element or button and (3) two different patterned papers.
I decided that this photo looked like treats for a birthday party so I decided to make a gift bag and birthday card to help celebrate.
I combined 3 different die cuts with the gift back. Two for the tag hanging from the handle and one for the scalloped numbered edge. I couldn't resist throwing in some fun Thickers and a coordinating birthday canble sticker for the tag to finish it off.
I decided to use a simple button to tie all the pieces of paper together with some fun floss to pull in the fun pink color.
I decided to balance the girly gift bag with a more male-friendly card. Again, this card uses 2 different patterned paper, a few die cuts and the metal elements are the white metal dots on either side of the "Happy Birthday".
Here is a close up of the birthday tag. The scalloped and regular cirlce are both die cuts while the happy birthday sentiment is actually a sticker. The white dots are actually made of metal and therefore meet the fianl requirement for this challenge.
I enjoyed making these projects and I hope this gift bag and card combination has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the guidelines above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, May 11th, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!
Supplies
Paper: Surprise (Scenic Route); white, black & green cardstock (misc); white craft bag
Embellishments: Fresh Snow button (PTI), Floss 899 (DMC), Fresh Snow grosgrain ribbon & Spring Moss Satin ribbon (PTI); White Metal Dots (Colorbok); Thickers Subway Alphabet (American Crafts)
Tools: Scallop & Regular Circle Punch (EK Success), 2-1/2" Limitless Layers Cirle & Tag #4 (PTI)

I decided that this photo looked like treats for a birthday party so I decided to make a gift bag and birthday card to help celebrate.
I used a plain white gift bag that I purchased at my local craft store. Then I layered paper from Scenic Route's Surprise line. I was only required to use 2 different patterned paper but I couldn't resist and ended up using 4! The large black/white polka dot section is actually a place for a photo to identify the birthday girl.
I combined 3 different die cuts with the gift back. Two for the tag hanging from the handle and one for the scalloped numbered edge. I couldn't resist throwing in some fun Thickers and a coordinating birthday canble sticker for the tag to finish it off.

Challenge 44 - Simon Says Find Your Own Sketch to Create a Card or Layout
Begins May 4, 2011
Simon Says create a card or layout using a sketch you found somewhere else (i.e. in a magazine or on another blog)
Here is my sketch and card:
I really enjoyed the simplicity of this sketch and thought I could have some fun with the large open space for a great image to color. This is what I came up with...
I really liked the Grafton scraps from Scenic Route and I thought the stamp from Hero Arts was perfect to color coordinate with the paper. The button on the front of the card and on the table for the photo were just to ad some whimsy.
The close up of the tree shows off my coloring. I really liked the way I used distress ink to create the sky and grass background too. I love distress ink by Ranger!
This final photo was taken just to show off the dimension of the card. I enjoyed making this project and I hope this card has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the guidelines above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, May 4th, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!

Ink: Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa (Memento), Old Paper, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass and Broken China (Ranger)
