Papercraft Star Challenge 39!

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another Papercraft Star weekly challenge! Here is the information on this week’s challenge:

Challenge 39 - Simon Says Create A Card

Begins March 30, 2011
Create a Card Using the Following Recipe:
Base 5 x 7
Mat: 3 x 4.5
Add Rhinestones
Add Flourish
Add Whatever Else You Desire

My card uses a fun stamp from My Favorite Things Stamps called Cheers and some lovely paper from Die Cuts with a View called La Creme.

I paper-pieced her dress and colored in the champagne flute with my glitter gelly roll pen. I love how it sparkles. It is also difficult to capture in this photo but the scalloped edge is with flocked paper from DCWV. I love the texture it adds to the card.

This photo shows off the various dimensions in this card.

This final photo shows you the inside of the card where I used the 3x4.5" mat for the sentiment.

I hope my card has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the guidelines above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, March 30th, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!Links:

Papercraft Star Challenge 38!

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to another Papercraft Star weekly challenge! This month Michelle's Scrapbooking is sponsoring our design team and one selected DT member will be showing off their digi stamps each week of this month. This week that's me!

Michelle's Scrapbooking & More is the home of The Pixie Cottage stamps, with many different illustrators/artists contributing their art work they have a stamp for every taste. They are now selling not only single stamps, but some stamp sets as well.

Red rubber and digital images are both available, so stop by and take a look at their latest images. If stamps are not your thing they have a wide selection of paper crafting supplies too !

Challenge 38
Create any project you wish using this sketch as your inspiration.

I decided that my project would be a birthday layout called "Birthday Pinata" using the Little Piggy digital stamp from Pixie Cottage Digital Stamps from Michelle's Scrapbooking & More.

As you can see my family celebrated my step-son and father-in-law's birthdays by beating on a pinata! I grew up with pinatas but they were new to the Stephens family. I love all the bright colors and I was able to color coordinate the party hat pinata with the piggy's party hat. What a fun party that was for everyone.
I hope my layout has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the sketch above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!Links:

Papercraft Star Challenge 37!

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another Papercraft Star Weekly Challenge! Here is the information on this week’s challenge:

Photo Inspiration and Theme: begins March 16, 2011.
Create a St. Patrick's Day inspired project using this photograph as your inspiration.

(Photograph From Amy Atlas Events)

Here is my project for the challenge...

I really love these a la mode stamps from My Favorite Things. This particular one just screamed out to be paper-pieced with some fun green patterned paper. It also allowed me to combine the paper-piecing with some coloring using my Copics.

I decided to place the sentiment on the inside of the card for space reasons and thought I would add the coordinating paper and bling for fun. I like how this card has a masculine edge to it as well.

I hope my card has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the theme and photo inspiration above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, March 16th, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!

Happy Spring!

Friday, March 11, 2011

Hello Everyone!

Today I am posting a couple of super simple cards that I created to celebrate Spring. I was inspired by a set of 3D glitter stickers at Michaels by Martha Stewart. The package was $1.99 and had 3 daisies and 3 butterflies. What fun to make a simple layered base with these gorgeous and fun dimensional stickers. Don't they just make you think of springtime?

I hope you all have a wonderful and crafty weekend ahead of you!

Paper: SS White (PTI), scraps
Ink: Black (CTMH)
Stamps: Easter Joy (Verve)
Embellishments: Stickers (Martha Stewart)

Papertrey Paper Dolls Blog Hop!

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Hello and Welcome to the Papertrey Paper Dolls Blog Hop!

(My second post for the day!)

We are so glad you are joining us today and hope that you will hop along with us as we get to know each other better.  Perhaps you can even play along with our challenge!

The theme for this blog hop is PTI. We decided to pay tribute to the reason why we are all here in the first place -  a love for all things Papertrey Ink. Each creation you see along the hop this week will have something that starts with a P, something that starts with a T and something that starts with an I on it.  Here's your opportunity to see some great projects and get a chance to win a PTI stamp set called Made of Snow just by leaving a comment on one of the blogs and by participating in the challenge you can get a chance to win a $25 PTI gift certificate.

In addition to viewing wonderful and varied creations, you will be able to read a little bit more about each member of this blog group and get to know all the girls better.  For example, a little bit more about me...C!

Name: Cecilia
Nickname: C
Location: Raleigh, NC
Age: 40 (yikes!)
Status: Married with one fabulous step-son (Hi Will!)
What I do to pay for my PTI addiction: Lawyer

Favorite PTI stamps: Really? No way!

Now for a chance to see what I created for the blog hop...

P - Polka Dot Basics Impression Plate
T- Terracotta Tile Cardstock & Buttons
I - Impression Plate (Linen & Canvas)

I wanted to make a round card since I NEVER make round cards. I also wanted to use my impression plates (love!) and my Color Couture papers. I also managed to make a card without using a single stamp or any ink...wow! I still managed to fulfill the blog hop requirements and even stepped out of my comfort zone. Yeah me! For a list of the supplies used on this card check the bottom of this post. The next stop for you on the blog hop is Michelle's Blog. Hop on over to see what the rest of the Dolls have in store for you. Viva La Verve Challenge (March Week 1)

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is my response to the Viva La Verve sketch challenge for the first week of March. Here is the sketch:

Here is my card...

I used some strong colors on this one and mixed in some embossing too. I wanted to use these colors but didn't really have any patterned paper to match so I used the full stamp set to make some. The set I used was from Verve Stamps and is called Easter Joy. The butterfly was used on the golden yellow cardstock while the beautiful flowers was repeated in a pattern on the juniper-colored card stock. The spring egg wreath was heat embossed with black pwder and colored in with my Copic markers. The Raspberry Fizz buttons were supplied by PTI. I think this is a fun card.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Papercraft Star Challenge 35

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another Papercraft Star Challenge...

Challenge 35 - Songs, Movies or Books Inspiration

Create a project using a song title or book or movie as your inspiration. For example, use the title, the story/lyrics or a character as your inspiration to create whatever papercraft project your heart desires.

I thought about what I would do and it came to me...when I was a little girl my mom would sing to me (and I mean all the time). She did name me after the patron saint of Music! [FYI, "C" is short for Cecilia].  So I am also on a mission to scrapbook more (including myself, gulp) and decided to combine the 2 into this challenge. I found a fun baby picture of myself and remembered my mom's love of the Supremes and the song Baby Love and I knew I had it. Here is what I created for this challenge...I hope you enjoy it!

Here is the photo of the full 12 x 12 layout. The title runs onto the photo and makes some letters hard to see in this photo but keep scrolling down and you will see a close up.

The photo above is an angled shot showing off the ruffled ribbon. First, I love PTI ribbon and second, I love playing with it in unique ways...I like creating something other than a bow to add a feminine touch with ribbon.

The photo above shows you a close up of the title letters. I used some fun pink epoxy stickers with rhinestones embedded in them. I thought the stones mimiced the butterfly trails I created with my i-Rock tool (can I tell you how awesome that tool is???). I have to admit I kind of went a little bling crazy with it but it was so easy and fun I just couldn't put the tool down...so forgive the excessive bling (if that is even possible right?!).

The final photo shows off the cute little butterflies and i-Rock bling trail. I must admit to not being a huge butterfly fan but I decided to challenge myself and give them a go and I like the way it turned out. I popped them up to add dimension and give them some "lift" off the page.

I hope my layout has inspired you to join in the challenge. Remember to follow the sketch guidelines above and post your project to the Papercraft Star site beginning today, Wednesday, March 2, 2011. You have until Sunday at 9pm EST to get your project posted. Voting begins after midnight on Saturday and runs through 6am EST on Tuesday. The winning project is announced on the site on Tuesday afternoon! Good luck to everyone and happy crafting!

Supplies
Paper: Hawaiian Shores (PTI); Misc patterened paper scraps (October Afternoon)
Embellishments: i-Rock silver studs (Imaginesce), Hawaiian Shores grograin ribbon (PTI), Epoxy Alphabet Stickers (Recollections)
Tools: Cricut Create (ProvoCraft), i-Rock (Imaginesce) and
