Halloween Pumpkins

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Hi Everyone,

I have been putting together a bunch of fall/halloween projects together for my work for Club Ruby. I am a member of the design team and my work will be featured during the month of October. I will give you a heads up when I am highlighted on the Club Ruby site so you can head over there...in the meantime a fun Halloween card.

The stamps used are from Inkadinkado (Halloween Marker Sketch) and one of the Background Basics set from PTI. The cardstock used is from Stampin Up (White, Old Olive) with some Bazzill (orange, light green, Raven) thrown in for good measure.

The photo shows a close up of the title and the cute scallop border (SU). The ink is Noir Black from Palette and the distressing is done with Chai (PYI) and Charcoal (Colorbox).

The photo above shows you the different Copic markers I used for this project. I am really enjoying the coloring technique.

I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far. Come back Friday for another post!

Wonderful News!

Monday, September 27, 2010

I am proud to announce that I have been named to the Design Team for The Cutting Cafe! I am so excited and can't wait to share all the amazing digital designs that Regina Easter creates for the Cafe as well as work with some amazingly talented ladies on the team.

Today's post highlights a new set of digital stamps from The Cutting Cafe called Think Pink. I wanted to make a simple layout of in honor of my mother who died of cancer 15 years ago. I am still looking for the best picture to insert but I didn't want to wait to share it.

The next photo is a close up of one of the sentiments from the Think Pink set.

Next is a close up of the Title I chose from the set...

And finally, the use of the word "hope" to bridge across the page.

This layout is pretty simple but I like it...and I think my mom would too. I wanted the message to be the focus without a bunch of other distractions. Once I have a photo of mom I will re-post.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and come back soon for more posts. Happy Crafting everyone!

Congratulations Cake Card

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Hello!

Today's card is an another one I created and submitted for publication. It was not accepted so I get to share it with you!  This card is my take on paper piecing. I have a fun stamp set (2 actually) from Mint Motif that allow you to build a cake and add various toppers too. It is a great idea and a great set. It has 5 paper layers...and that doesn't even include the cake!  It is a festive little card that could work for many different occassions. I hope you enjoyed it and I will see you Friday with another posting. Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #21

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Hello!

I am here with the latest installment of the Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge. This is a pretty great day for me. My lucky number is 21 and this is the 21st challenge for the "Dolls" and it is also my 40th birthday! Still not sure how I feel about this milestone but I can tell you I had a blast making my card for this week's challenge. I kept it simple for everyone...I went with a theme for this challenge...FALL. Create something beautiful and warm with the fall season as your inspiration. Whether it is the crisp air, the rustling leaves or the excitement of Halloween and all its sweet treats around the corner, I know you will find something special to capture your feelings about this time of year...

This card is squared at 5-1/2" and uses some fun October Afternoon paper, my fun new stamps (Jar Fall Fillers and Leaf Prints) plus some fantastic dies (Jar Label, Leaf, Spellbinders). Here is a close up to see the details of the background stamping with Versamark for the leaves and the cute little acorns and colors of the jar contents (yah copics!).

And here is a closer view of the sentiment "Autumn Wishes".  This view shows the use of Versamark on the two colored strips (Orange Zest & Simply Chartreuse) where I played with the leaf and acorn images. The die cut leaves were crumpled up a bit to given them some dimension. I stamped the veins in dark chocolate and then covered that up with the full leaf stamp using versamark to give it a bit more definition. I just love how this whole card came together.

You can check out the post at the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog and, remember, you have 3 weeks to post your project. Have a fantastic day everyone!

All Supplies are PTI unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fall Fillers & Leaf Prints
Ink: Versamark; Memento Black; Dark Chocolate & Chai
Paper: October Afternoon; Stampe's Select White, Terracotta Tile, Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado and Kraft
Embellishments: Spellbinders Large Rectangle (Sq & Scalloped Sq), Jar Label, Leaf
Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug

Never frown....

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Hello Everyone!

Today's card is a departure from last week's theme. This card was put together with some scraps from paper I am using for some magazine submissions.

I got a chance to use up some pretty scraps, play with my new i-Tool (bradmaker) and use up some sentiments from my ridiculously large quote stack collection.

Here is the flower I made with some random beige flowers I had and my new i-Top tool.  Add some Chartreuse felt leaves and voila...a cute little flower accent. I LOVE this new tool. I have the punches (which make all the difference) and see myself using this a bunch!

Here is a close up of the sentiment from my Love & Romance Quote Stack. I forgot how quick and easy those things are to use...I really need to make an effort to break them out much more often...

Remember those still interested in entering to win a $10 PTI gift certificate need to post a link HERE with their western-themed project by this Saturday, September 11th.

All supplies are PTI unless otherwise noted
Ink: Charcoal (Colorbox)
Paper: Queen Bee Collection (Pink Paisley)
Embellishments: Simply Chartreuse Felt, Love & Romance Quote (DCWV), misc flowers
Tools: Leaf Die, iTool (16mm brad)

Cowboy Week - Day 6

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Howdy y'all!

Today's post is my last one during Cowboy Week. I hope you have enjoyed this week's theme. I may do something like this more often. The following layout was created (again) using the *Wanted* line from Cosmo Cricket (I don't work for them...I swear!). They just seem to have the only real cowboy/girl - western-themed product out there. Don't get me wrong, it is fantastic, but the market is limited.

I don't have a ton to say about this layout. I tried to let the awesome designs in the paper stand out. Even the title, "Don't Fence Me In," is cut from a a sheet from the line with different pattern strips. Here are some close up photos...

Again, I am totally digging the chipboard stickers. The ones in this set are just beautiful.

Well, that's it for this theme week. I hope you enjoyed the cards and this layout and it inspires you to create something wonderful...and if you do, I hope you will feel comfortable linking a picture of your project on my blog here for a chance to win a $10 PTI gift certificate.

As always, happy crafting.....yeehaw!

Cowboy Week - Day 5

Friday, September 3, 2010

Howdy Y'all!

Today is day 5 of Cowboy Week! It has gone by quickly. Tomorrow will be my last post but I still encourage everyone to play along with the challenge for a chance to win a $10 PTI gift certificate. You can link you creation to the bottom of the post on Day ! - here. Today's card is easy peasey partner. I used more of Cosmo Cricket's fantastic *Wanted* line, a striking chipboard sticker (same line) and a sentiment from an old Stampin' Up set I borrowed from my BFF.

In case you can't read the sentiment it says, "The Wind of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears." Isn't that nice? I am not much of an equestrian. I have only been on horseback a handful of times in my life but I think that quote is just lovely. Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Stamps: Stampin Up
Ink: Dark Chocolate and Chai
Paper: Kraft and Ocean Tides; *Wanted* (Cosmos Cricket)
Embellishments: Chipboard sticker (Cosmo Cricket)

Cowboy Week - Day 4

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Howdy Y'all!

Sorry for the delay in today's post. This is one of my favorites of the week. This combines the fun chipboard stickers from Cosmo Cricket's *Wanted* Collection as well as the hot new trend of banners!

I use more of my Ocen Tides (PTI) grosgrain ribbon for a nice touch that is not too feminine. I realized that this card doesn't have any stamping on it...wow. I hope you are all enjoying Cowboy Week so far. I have received some great feedback. Come back tomorrow for another fun card and on Saturday I will have a layout for all you cowpolks and remember to post your projects by Saturday, September 11th for a chance to win a $10 PTI gift certificate.

Have a great day y'all!

Cowboy Week - Day 3

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Howdy Y'all!

Today's post is day 3 of Cowboy Week. Welcome back partners. Sit a spell and feast your eyes on this fun card:

This here's another really simple but fun card. I used a strip from the Wanted line from Cosmo Cricket, added some more chipboard stickers and stamped a sentiment from a set from Close to My Heart ("Yeehaw"). A little distressing with some ink and this puppy is ready to roll.

Here is a view from the side so you can get an idea of the dimension that these chipboard stickers add to the card. I think this would be a great card for any of you cowboys or cowgirls.

As a reminder, check out Monday's post to catch all the details of the Cowboy Week Challenge for a chance to win a $10 Papertrey Ink gift certificate.

Stamps: Yeehaw (CTMH)
